Craig Potton rose to prominence as a photographer in the late 1980s, with a distinct and original view of the landscape of Aotearoa. He was a photographer with little interest in a sentimentalised or romantic view of the land, but rather pursued a less compromising and more muscular vision that sought to convey this country’s remarkable landscape in a real light.
 
Craig Potton has become one of New Zealand’s most distinguished landscape photographers, famous for his moody, often dramatic images that signal a deeply-felt connection with the wild parts of New Zealand. This book collects together many of his most celebrated images in one place. The images range from his celebrated aerial photography, especially that of the Southern Alps and Fiordland, and of the volcanoes of the Central North Island, his beautifully composed and complex forest interiors, his gentle seascapes, and also those from the rural parts of New Zealand.
