Pohutukawa Bowls and Platter
This native tree grows around New Zealand’s coasts. It is able to withstand salt-laden winds and drought and can successfully gain a toehold in the poorest of soils. It often grows into a very large tree with widely spread branches.
The Pohutukawa has a bright red blossom, which appears near the end of December and lasts for several months. For that reason, it is known as the New Zealand Christmas Tree.
The Māori believe that the pohutukawa blossom predicts whether the coming summer will be long and hot, or shorter and cooler. in MADINZ Presentation Box POHUTUKAWA PLATTER W16 x H6cm
